#8w2 Stop Frame Taster Lesson

LO - To experiment with stop frame skills in order to make an informed choice for this unit

Starter:

In your groups You have 2 minutes to make your set !  Play do, models etc..

Task 1 - 10 mins


  • Plug in a stop frame camera - Load "I can animate" (All Programs, ICT and Business)   
  • You have 10 minutes to make a very MINI MOVIE - we are just practising the skills
  • Export the movie as a .wmv file  and save it in your Unit 4 Create me a Story folder - name it something sensible.

Task 2 - 10 mins


a) Open Adobe Premiere Pro and Start a New Project:

b)  Browse to save it in your Sites, Year 8 Create Me a Story folder and give it a sensible name eg: Practice Animation


c)  Then check that DV PAL is set to 48 HZ, name it again at the bottom and press OK.

d) You are now ready to start importing your stop frame clip ,. Simply go to File, Import and browse for your .wmv file - it will appear on the left hand side.  



2. Drag it down on the Video 1 line and press play to make sure it works. You should see it play in the little window - top right! 



Task 3 - 10 mins - Import a sound track 

Find a sound track you want on youtube.  

Type in the word 'sing' before the URL - for example

http://www.singyoutube.com/watch?v=AtKZKl7Bgu0

It will now take you through a menu for you to save the sound file.  

Choose MP3 192 and Press 'Process' - it will take a while but you can then save it in your Unit 4 Create Me a Story folder.

Go back to Adobe Premiere and import your sound file - drag it down onto the Audio Line.

Now play both at the same time - your Audio and Video

Task 4 - EXTENSION 

Now edit you video and audio file


  • Cut - scissor tool
  • Delete the sound from your Video file to cut out the (right lick - unlink) 
  • Experiment with the volume by inserting key nodes

HOMEWORK - Will you choose Flash, Stop Frame or Adobe Fireworks for your movie / animation? Blog or email and tell me why ...

    When I create my animation, I will use stop frame animation. This is because I enjoyed working with the technique during the taster lesson and I also am quite familiar with stop Frame.

  2. Jess Smith - I am going to use stop frame for my animation as I like that you can do what you want with your characters and like the idea of green screening!

  3. molly king- i am using stop frame because it is simple, fun and i am familiar with it! we will be green screening some of it too!

  4. I'm going to be using adobe fireworks, because although im not that used to it i think it will look more professional.

  5. Cameron Slater- I am going to use adobe firework, becuase my story has lots of building that the characters interact with, so firework would be the most easy to crate a profenitonal looking aminmation.
