LO - "Refine" your sequencing skills using flowcharts and apply these to online programming
STARTER:
WAD STICKERS, HAND IN HOMEWORK
Last week we made a flow chart for toast, tea and other every day events.
- What can you remember?
- Look at the flowchart sheet. What's different about it?
- How could you change (refine = make better / more efficient) yours to use this new shape?
Development .....
1) Open your Flowchart 1 in Microsoft Word. You should have saved it in your Sites folder.
2) Refine it to use a decision diamond ie: for jam on toast, or sugar in tea for example.
3) Ensure your name is on it, save and print for your folder.
New learning and applying your knowledge....
Have a go at Level 1 of Lightbot by clicking here
As you are working through level 1, say out loud the instructions you are giving. Forward 1, Forward 2, Light Up etc..
Could you have a go at representing these instructions as a flow chart ?
Create your 'algorithm' - draw it on paper / or on the tables/whiteboards.
Test it does it work?
What needs changing ?
Plenary: Meta Menu.
Using the Menu Menu Exit card. Choose 2 questions to answer and tell a partner the answer. Your partner might then need to feedback to Miss.
- How are you going to remember this learning?
- What is the key aspect you will remember?
- What has this lesson reminded you of?
- What did you learn that you didn’t know before?
- What have you learnt that could be useful elsewhere?
- What have you learnt elsewhere that is like this?
- How will you apply what you have learnt?
If you have time:
1. Download the Unit 1 Evidence Document by clicking here
2. Save the document in SITES > ICT > Unit 1
